JONNIE PEARSON
Payroll Billing Manager
Jonnie Pearson is a 20-year veteran in the world of billing and payroll. A huge Florida State football fan, Jonnie began working at QuarterLine back in 2012. She says she’s grateful for her team and loves what she does!
#1) How has your career progressed since working at QuarterLine?
I started my career as a staff accountant. When I got to QuarterLine, I began helping with bidding for contracts. Now I’m the Payroll Billing Manager. Payroll and billing go hand-in-hand. We recently implemented the CostPoint Time and Expense System. I’m learning something new about that every day. It was a bit difficult at first, but now I’ve learned how to take shortcuts and make it work.
#2) What was one of your most rewarding moments at your job?
One of the project managers went to visit a site and I found out that all of the contracting officers had great things to say about me and how friendly I was. That made me feel good!
#3) Who is your role model and why?
My mother is my role model. She is where I got my work ethic from. She’s a great mom and grandmother. She could motivate anybody! She taught me to look on the positive side of things... to take hold of any situation and make it better.
#4) How has the COVID-19 crisis changed the way you perform your duties?
It has made things a little more interesting and hectic. Prior to COVID-19, all of the contracts were cut and dried. Now, if someone tests positive, we have to make sure their timesheet is correct. If I see someone has indicated that they have COVID-19 or are in quarantine, I have to check with the project managers to make sure it’s accurate and appropriately handled.
#5) What is something about you that would surprise people?
I love football! I’m a big Florida State football fan. Everything I have in my house is Florida State. I have always liked Bobby Bowden. When they came to Durham, North Carolina to play Duke University, we attended. It was a great game!
#6) What is one thing you have yet to cross off your bucket list?
A trip to Hawaii! I would love to go to Waikiki Beach. That is the next thing on my to-do list. I just want to be there and see the waves.
